The Aim
The aim was to influence public opinion, the legislature and to effect reforms that individual companies would not be powerful enough to bring about. It was agreed by those founding fathers that ABCCI was to be a Chamber for the British Interest in South East Europe and not only for Albania.
From its earliest days the ABCCI's prime role was Development of international trade and the representation of the interests of the British trading community in Albania. Assistance to members in resolving day-to-day trading problems.
Premises
Since the Chamber's inception in 2002 it has had two head offices, all located in the Tirana:
- No 11 Pjeter Bogdani St, Tirane (a temporary office from 2002-2004)
- No 26 Mihal Grameno Street ( from 2004)
- Office 10 at Rogner Hotel, Bulevardi "Deshmoret e Kombit", Tirana, Albania ( from 2005 untill 2008),
- The Head Office at No 58, "Petro Nini Luarasi" Street. Tirana, ALBANIA
Early activities and achievements
The ABCCI in its first year was very much a pioneer concentrating on:
- Developed a substantial business information service
- Early involvement as a conciliator
Recent activities and achievements
- Closely involved with the development of the Tourism and Agribusiness in Albania, by organizing two Trade Mission in Albania and one in UK.
- Key player in providing very low cost training in English and IT for student in Albania of the group age from 9 years old to 55 years old.
- Key player on establishing good communication channel with Inland Revenue Office of Albania, on the interest of British companies.
- Formed a chain of tailored training seminars for the business community in general.
- Established the first office of Bar Coding thought the UK system for Albania.
International trade
- From its earliest days the Chamber has been closely involved with international trade and with assisting members with day-to-day trading issues.
- International trade activities continue to play a key role today, in particular the services provided by the Chamber's Export Documents, Customs and Trade Procedures and World Trade Teams.
