News from President's Desk
I am writing to bring you up to date with recent developments in the Chamber and to give you advanced notice of some events which I think will be of interest to you.
I recently returned from a visit to the UK where I had meetings with industrialists and Parliamentarians who are very supportive of the work of the Chamber. I regard it as very important to keep these contacts open because of the opportunities they create for the benefits of our members.
A number of British Companies I met with have strategic interests in Albania and offer exciting investment possibilities. These are high technology companies in the areas of carbon fiber technology, waste management and financial services and are approved by the European Union.
All of them are aware of the potential of doing business in Albania and I encourage their interest at every opportunity.
They have reassured me that they will keep Albanian interests to the forefront in their network and I hope they will return again soon.
This will further enhance Albanian business interests and I would hope that there will be a strong delegation of business representatives attending from Albania.
As you know the Chamber encourages members to take advantage of networking through participation in the extensive range of Trade Exhibitions which are held regularly in the UK. Previously business personnel have attended the Royal Agricultural Show and the World Travel Forum as well as others.
I am pleased to say the Chamber is a strategic partner with the UK Trade and Investment Department and we are authorized by them to conduct market research and identify commercial contacts for Organizations who consult us.
The Chamber is also a member of the World Chambers Federation which is an important forum for coordinating business events worldwide.
Our membership of the Council of British Chambers of Commerce in Europe enables us to participate in several events which the council stages throughout the year.
As a result of all these initiatives the Chamber grows stronger all the time and I am grateful for the loyal support of members, our International Consultants, the UK Parliament and the EU. A special word of thanks must go to the British Embassy in Tirana.
We are ready for the new challenges Albania faces in the future and with your continuing support we will be able to overcome the global financial crisis of which we are all aware. We are ready to help you in any way and I would welcome any suggestions you might have on how we can assist you to structure your operations and bring your business into line with EU and British standards and improve the business environment generally in Albania. Do please contact us on any matter where we are able to help.
Zenel Hoxha, President
