Meeting with the Mayor of Shkodra

The members of the Albanian British Chamber of Commerce and Industry attended the meeting with the Mayor of Municipality of Shkodra Mrs Voltana Ademi.

The Shkodra Municipality presents great investment potentials for foreign and Albanian investor in the areas of tourism, agriculture production, food processing, manufacture and production of energy. The latest adjustment of legislation on Municipalities management has created various opportunities on the way they see the area developments and attracting investment.

The meeting was attending by some 50 local businesses which were interested to know the trends of the investments and how their companies can join in by either co investing or offering services and products. It was very interesting to see that the manufacturing, which is the main sector employing some 70% of the local population, has developed in a full circle manufacturing. The medical herb production of the local area has now developed the ability of processing their medical herbs into oil essences adding enormous value to their production line. The tourism industry is focusing in interconnection with the major platforms of tourism attraction to increase visibility.

The Municipality of Shkodra presented their vision on developing the municipality while creating opportunities and new jobs. The Mayor offered their resources to would be investors to develop tourist attraction among others.

The Chamber presented to all the participants the focus and the assistance that we can offer on facilitating such process. The investment in renewable energy and tourism has the backing of many international investors and therefore we will work with the municipality to identify good projects, prepare pre-elementary information and involve experts for the visibility studies to be carried out.

The Chamber will soon organise a follow up meeting in April 2018.
